Dweorg
Dwarves are split into two subspecies - Geerghe & Akandro
Geerghe
Geerghe are mountain dwarves broad shouldered and hearty. Their limbs are much more proportionate. ( in official terms this is what a midget actually is, but what we think of when we think dwarf.)
Akandro
Akandro are hill dwarves - smarter but more gentle frame and disproportionate limbs. (These are a race of actual dwarves with achondroplasia. Real dwarves.) Gnomes are believed to have been direct descendants of the Akandro.
Etymology Geerghe owes its name to the mutation of gearrghéagacht ( gearr (“short”) + géag (“limb”) + -acht ) the irish word for Achondroplasia which is the main cause associated with dwarfism and also the name sake for Akondro. The term midget comes from midge (small fly) and didn't show up until 1848. However the old English word - dweorg was, which originated from Proto-Germanic dwergaz
