Ka Maer'im
Tall, horned humanoids with long tails with color tinted skin are the children born of an incubus invasion. Enfants des demons.
Maer'im are typically born to an unwed mother. But, this is not always the case. In either case it is hard on the mother and more often than not ends the marriage.
Being born to such an unloving situation, life is hard from the start for Maer'im. And it only gets worse when they find themselves being rejected by a society that watches their every move with skeptism and trepidation.
Despite never having been fully embraced by society, Maer'im aren't known in any large number. it seems their mistrustful nature goes double when interacting with others of their kind.
The interesting part of Maer'im birth is not only the circumstance of their birth, but also how much it changes the mother as well. The mothers after birth, slowly change over the next few years to resemble more of their children.
It's unclear if Maer'im can be born any other way, as there hasn't been that many recorded cases of heterosexual Maer'im couples.
etymology
Ka Maer'im is an amalgam of words.
Starting with the concept of succubus and incubus often connected with sleep paralysis. Which was also believed to be caused by Mare (or nightmares).
the word Cambion also refers to those that are born from the succubus stealing seed and the incubus implanting seed to give birth. Said to be from the Celtic root 'Kamb' meaning crooked.
the 'im suffix is inspired by both Se’īrīm and Shedim of Hebrew origin. While not being particularly evil spirits, they are often compared to the Jinn, which were also blamed for sleep paralysis.
